talkative.idvu.co is a mobile application to play a synchronized audio description, in movie theaters or other social locations, just using the sound of the video as reference.

The application has a public catalog of nearby events, but also private catalogs for any small or large gatherings. Private catalogs can be set up very quickly by the organizer and become available using a "code". Then the code just need to be communicated to the audience.
As a user, just install the application, access a catalog, pick your content, and download the assets. At the time of the session, with a click on "synchronize": the application will listen to the video being played and find the corresponding moment. It will then play the audio description or an audio augmentation track in the earset.

How does it work for the operators/organizers?
- Create a new catalog for a set of movies.

In this catalog, upload: the video or just the sound of the video
as it will be played during the presentation,
and the audio file containing the audio description alone.
The reference audio and the audio description must be exactly synchronized in terms of time stamps (meaning: for instance: time 14m03s in the reference audio or video exactly corresponds to time 14m03s in the audio description). - Fill in the metadata of the video with its title, description...
- The system will have generated a unique code for the whole catalog and individual videos.

The codes can then be communicated to the participants.
Codes can be shared in advance to participants using the communication channels of the presentation, they can also be displayed on printed materials and audibly announced onsite. - The catalog can be requested to be added to the public catalog and become accessible to users without requiring entering a code.
